و جدتهم في اكثر من موضع بنفس المعني ألا وهو "الصوتيات"

لكن ما الفرق بينهم ؟

حسب ما بحث فأن اثنيناتهم معانها علم الصوتيات 

  phonetics is (linguistics) the study of the physical sounds of human speech, while      phonics is the study of how the sounds of words are represented by spelling.

  علم الصوتيات هو (علم اللغة) دراسة الأصوات المادية للكلام البشري ،  بينما علم الصوتيات هو دراسة كيفية تمثيل أصوات الكلمات عن طريق التهجئة.
